Little Friends Childcare Centre runs two enriched, inclusive program for children ages 3 through to 5 years of age.

Our 3 Year Old Program

Daycare space  8:00am  to 5:30 pm

Monday to Friday

This class will have the opportunities for children to expand their social play though turn taking and sharing. Children are more aware of each other and begin parallel play with their peers. The teachers will be promoting children to use their words to help negotiate, request, and answer questions. Fine motor skills are improving through a variety of educational toys and art activities. The teacher will be assisting children to correctly hold their writing apparatuses and beginning using scissors to snip. Speech and language skills are quickly developing at this age and they will have the opportunity to interact with children their own age and develop friendships. Snack time provides children with the social component but also self-help skills. Circle time has many learning opportunities such as color recognition, counting, shapes. They will learn about themes such as bears, insects, oceans, etc..

In each session, children will have opportunities to engage in gross motor in gym time and also in our secured playground.

The teachers will be encouraging children to explore their independence and promote the developmental milestones along the way.

 

Our 4 Year Old Program

Daycare space : 8:00 to 5:30pm

Monday to Friday

 

 

Children in this class are in preparation for their entry into kindergarten for the following year. Children will have the understanding of peer interaction and will practice and master cooperative play. Their language skills are improved so we will be helping them to negotiate, solving problems, and inviting peers into their play. Fine motor skills such as cutting skills, pre-writing, educational toys will be practiced every day. The children will have daily opportunities to practiced self-help skills such as dressing, toileting, being responsible for their snack bags and personal belongings. Listening skills, waiting turns, music and movement, games, math concepts, shapes, color recognition, felt stories are experienced in our circle times. As a three year old they were taught their ABCs as four year old’s we use a program called “Fun with Phonics”. This program will help the children now learn and understand the phonically sound of the letters and we will begin to put words together and sound them out.

Visitors are welcome anytime, however we would like a teacher to be available to spend time with you and answer your questions, so we ask that you  email to set up an appointment.

When visiting, we encourage you to interact with your child and play with the many toys and materials available in the various learning centres.
